Sharyn Bowman was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.   When she was 14, her parents moved to Baltimore, Maryland.

Sharyn at Home

Sharyn remained in Baltimore until her husband was transferred to San Francisco.   She and her husband returned from San Francisco to the Washington, DC area, where they still live.

Sharyn chose a research career in public health.  She was first published in 1978, with many scientific publications following.

Sharyn loved reading all types of fiction from an early age.  Her interests expanded to writing outside the scholarly literature several years ago.
She feels that designing and conducting scientific studies has parallels to unraveling a mystery.  She used her scientific background extensively in her mystery novel, Evening Shift.

In Evening Shift, a woman walks into a hospital morgue and becomes a killer's victim.  Samantha Donahue, ER head nurse in that San Francisco hospital, is drawn into the worlds of arson and illicit drugs on her path to solving the crime.  Her search culminates in a twist ending.   Read an excerpt!
